First, please pray for the impact of our training and counseling. Then share with others that our ministry is faithful to present the truth of Scripture that will help them grow in their understanding of God. Finally, you may consider the following ways to support our ministry:

Corporate Matching

Many companies offer matching gift programs and will match the charitable contributions of their employees. Many employers sponsor matching gift programs that will match charitable contributions made by their employees. Some companies also match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses.

To find out if your company has a matching gift policy, contact your employer’s human resources office. If they participate in gift matching, they should provide a matching gift form for you to complete. Complete the donor portion of the form and follow the procedures your employer gives you. Typically, you will send your gift and form to someone in your company, who will then forward your gift and the matching gift to Rod and Staff.

Gifts In-Kind

We occasionally receive gifts such as automobiles, real estate, coins, jewelry, or other donated items of value. Please contact the Rod and Staff Office when considering such a contribution.

Gifts of Securities

By donating shares of appreciated securities, you may realize significant tax benefits while making a sizeable contribution.

Gifts of individual stocks or mutual funds that have increased in value allow friends to generously support Rod and Staff Ministries while receiving significant tax advantages at the same time. If you decide to gift securities you have held for more than one year, not only will you receive a charitable deduction for the full value of the shares on the date of transfer, but you will avoid paying capital gains tax on the appreciated value of the donated shares.

As the IRS has granted Rod and Staff charitable tax-exempt status, we are not required to pay taxes on the sale of securities we own. That means that your gift has maximum impact on all those who rely on our resources to mature in their faith and Christ-likeness.

Stock gifts can be easily made however you hold the shares – by certificate or by direct electronic transfer from your brokerage account. Should you decide to support Rod and Staff this way, we want to ensure a smooth transaction and process your gift accurately and in a timely fashion. Please contact the Rod and Staff Office when considering such a contribution

Legacy Gifts

A legacy gift made through your estate or living trust, life insurance policy, or retirement plan is a thoughtful and important way to ensure that Rod and Staff will boldly proclaim God’s holiness to a new generation.

Living Trust

Many friends who share our vision understand that wise biblical stewardship extends to future generations. Through thoughtful, long-range planning, you can ensure your impact on the disciples of tomorrow while achieving your personal financial goals today. You may desire to provide for your family in the future, secure additional income now, or avoid estate and gift taxes. Rod and Staff can help you accomplish these goals while creating a spiritual legacy that will impact Christ’s Kingdom for decades to come.

To create a heritage of faith you may wish to consider:

  • providing for Rod and Staff Ministries in your will or living trust.
  • designating Rod and Staff as a beneficiary of accounts you hold at your financial institution.
  • naming Rod and Staff as the sole or partial beneficiary of your retirement plans or life insurance.
  • strategies that offer significant tax savings as well as income for life.
Life Insurance

There are several unique advantages to making a charitable donation through a life insurance policy. Such a legacy gift is simple to arrange and does not require the services of an attorney or related legal costs. Also, the size of the gift is assured in advance and will not depend on the fluctuations of the market or other economic factors.

Making a charitable gift by designating Rod and Staff as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy may be particularly appealing to those concerned with preserving other assets for family members. Since the donation is made outside of your will or trust, it guarantees that your wishes will be carried out swiftly and as intended. By making gifts through smaller annual premium payments, you assure a sizeable gift to our mission that does not impact your holdings.

Some options include:

  • making Rod and Staff the beneficiary of the life insurance policy offered at your place of employment.
  • contributing an obsolete policy that can benefit the kingdom now.
  • establishing a new policy for which you gift premiums to Rod and Staff that are deductible as charitable donations for tax purposes. Rod and Staff in turn uses those funds to pay the premiums on a life insurance policy that has named our ministry as the beneficiary.
Retirement Plan

The need to plan and save for retirement may mean that your retirement accounts have become your most significant assets. Yet there is a down side to such accumulation of wealth. Required distributions are taxable income to you or your spouse. In addition, your heirs may find themselves paying considerable taxes on those funds if inherited during their peak earning years. Combined with estate and other taxes, that can result in a substantial tax impact on the retirement funds you diligently saved and invested. For that reason, your IRA, 401(k) or other qualified retirement plan may present an attractive way to support Rod and Staff Ministries in the future at greater levels than possible at present.

By designating Rod and Staff as the beneficiary of a retirement account, you ensure that:

  • the gift becomes deductible for estate tax purposes.
  • your heirs will receive assets which are not as highly taxed.
  • your gift will have maximum impact. Rod and Staff’s charitable tax-exempt status means we are not required to pay taxes on assets that are donated.
  • the Church of Jesus Christ will continue to benefit from the full value of your thoughtful gift planning for generations to come.
