The Lord has used counseling training to grow my faithfulness and trust in the Lord and to learn to fully depend on Him in all areas of my life. The Scriptures and speaking Truth has helped one of my counselee’s focus on what is right and true. She was planning to get a divorce at the beginning of counseling and now she is willing to reconcile and work on her marriage and put the divorce aside. It’s exciting to see God working in her life. It has not been easy, but she is leaning more on the Lord every day and learning to not give in to the sinful desires and temptations that come her way and to, instead, fight them with Truth.
My prayer at the beginning of 2025 was that the Lord would use me by giving me a boldness and fortitude to talk to people about salvation and their walk with God. God
has answered my prayer, and thanks to Rod and Staff, I now feel comfortable and confident talking to counselees about salvation and sanctification. At the beginning and end of each session, I have prayer with each counselee. If there was a session with a counselee that I did not focus on their salvation and walk with God, my supervisor held me accountable. I am very thankful that God answered my prayer through Rod and Staff!
Biblical counseling supervision created in me a deeper longing to meet my risen Saviour. With each case report submitted, Jim always concluded with a “Well done.” Considering those words each week not only motivated my desire to honor God by counseling well, but also reminded me that the service of biblical counseling is not merely for the here and now. It has an eternal purpose, fitting each of us for the kingdom, when we would face our Lord
and hear the words “well done” from Him. To God be the glory forever and ever.
