During a recent roundtable discussion we looked at biblical counseling and the Person of Christ. Today, Jim talks about the person of Christ and leadership in the audio message below. What example does Christ, who is love, leave us, and what kind of leadership does this this example call us to?

Ephesians 5:1-2 (00:22-01:15)

  • “Therefore, be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
  • Command to mimic God and walk in love
  • Christ’s example
    • love initiates
    • love gives
    • love gives oneself
    • love gives for good of other
    • love is sacrificial
    • love is offering to God

Implications for Husbands and Leaders (01:15-02:08)

  • Initiative
    • Willingly – intentionally, deliberately (1 peter 5:2)
    • No passivity, abdicating, deferring
    • Actively seek those you lovingly lead
  • Give yourself
    • Not things, but yourself
    • Reveal yourself, fully and completely
    • Jesus gave His live

  • Leadership – not a matter of style
